I design digital learning experiences that turn complex information and learner needs into clear, practical instruction people can apply. My work spans self-paced eLearning, video instruction, technology training, performance-support resources, LMS administration, and customer education.

Areas of Expertise:

Learning Experience Design • Adult Learning • eLearning Development • Video & Multimedia • Customer Education • AI-Assisted Content Development • LMS Administration

PBL Teacher Academy

Self-Paced eLearning | Adult Learning | Customer Education
The Challenge:

Teachers were purchasing my project-based learning resources but often needed more support for understanding how to implement PBL effectively. At the same time, I was receiving recurring questions about everything from project design and assessment to classroom management and implementation.

Those patterns pointed to a larger need: comprehensive training that would build teachers' capacity to design and facilitate PBL themselves rather than relying solely on ready-made resources.

My Approach:
I analyzed a repository of hundreds of questions from educators and identified recurring needs around PBL culture and community, project design, implementation, assessment and reflection, and scaling PBL.

I used those patterns to prioritize an enormous body of potential content into five focused modules and approximately six hours of training.

Lessons were intentionally kept bite-sized, generally 10 minutes or less, and every lesson ends with a specific action item learners can immediately apply.

I designed and produced the complete learning experience, including:
  • instructional videos and visual presentations
  • scripts, transcripts, and audio versions
  • teacher workbooks and implementation guides
  • planning templates and digital planners
  • rubrics, reflection tools, and feedback forms
  • learner check-ins and community-expert outreach tools
  • an at-a-glance course action checklist
  • discussion and learner-support features

Performance-support resources help learners move from instruction to application.
Evaluation and Iteration:
I use learner feedback and Thinkific engagement data to evaluate and improve the experience. When analytics showed that a bonus Design Thinking module was largely going unwatched, I removed it rather than adding more content to an already comprehensive course.

Learner feedback has also influenced the delivery itself. Requests for printable transcripts led me to add transcripts alongside every video and reinforced the value of giving adult learners multiple ways to access and engage with instruction.
This course is so well organized and structured. It has helped me to make the idea of PBLs feel more concrete. This course has given me the specific structure to start exploring and implementing PBL.

Experiential Learning Bootcamp

Custom eLearning | Stakeholder Collaboration | Adult Professional Learning
The Challenge:

A school program director initially contacted me about providing live experiential-learning training for his staff. I proposed an asynchronous digital alternative that would give approximately 50 staff members greater flexibility while providing ongoing access to the training.

The client came to the project with a broad set of desired topics, from reflection and social-emotional learning to PBL, subject-area applications, age differentiation, and assessment, and asked me to help determine what should actually be included.
Picture
My Approach:
Rather than turning the client's topic list directly into individual lessons, I identified overlapping themes and the common barriers educators encounter when implementing experiential learning. I recommended consolidating the material into a sequence of short, asynchronous lessons centered on practical implementation.

I proposed the course architecture, delivery format, supporting resources, and opportunities for learner questions, then refined the solution with the client based on his organizational and staff needs.

When the client requested that the experience itself be more active, not simply a series of videos, I built applications directly into the course through a lesson-by-lesson workbook and action-item checklist.
Picture
The Learning Experience:
The finished program included:
  • short asynchronous instructional videos
  • integrated application activities
  • lesson-by-lesson workbook
  • action-item checklist
  • video, audio, and transcript formats
  • discussion support
  • completion certificates
  • learner-progress tracking

Because the training was commissioned by an organization rather than purchased independently by individual learners, I also monitored staff progress through the LMS and provided completion updates to the program director.

Going Digital with Project-Based Learning

Technology Training | Digital Workflows | Generative AI
The Challenge:
I originally developed this training when distance learning rapidly changed how educators worked. Teachers needed practical ways to move project-based learning into digital environments without losing the creation, collaboration, feedback, assessment, and authentic audience experiences central to PBL.

As educators returned to in-person learning, digital workflows remained embedded in their work. The training evolved with those changing needs. When generative AI emerged as another significant shift in educators' workflows, I added instruction on using AI to support PBL development.
Picture
The Learning Experience:
The course teaches educators how to integrate digital tools throughout the PBL workflow, including how to:
  • distribute digital materials to students
  • create digital final products
  • share student work with authentic audiences online
  • collect feedback and assess digitally
  • use generative AI to streamline PBL development

The AI lesson includes a hands-on ChatGPT demonstration showing educators how to develop components such as driving questions, inquiry questions, student task lists, final-product ideas, and authentic presentation options.

Designing for Change:
I continue to update digital learning products as learner needs, technology, and professional practices change. Going Digital with Project-Based Learning evolved from a response to distance learning into ongoing technology training and later expanded to address generative AI.

About My Approach

I spent 10 years designing and facilitating experiential, project-based learning before founding Experiential Learning Depot in 2018.

Since then, I've designed and developed 12 published online courses and workshops and more than 240 digital instructional resources.

Working independently has required me to own the full learning-development process, from identifying customer needs and structuring content to instructional writing, multimedia production, LMS delivery, learner support, evaluation, and revision.

I am particularly interested in designing learning that helps people do something differently or more effectively, whether that means implementing a new instructional approach, adopting a digital tool, or navigating a changing professional workflow.
